The Story of WNY Gamers Club
Since the late 1990s, WNY Gamers Club has been a cornerstone of the Western New York video gaming scene and is likely the region's longest continuously running PC LAN party community. It all started with a simple idea: bringing local gamers together.
Before social media and Discord, a small group of gamers in Clarence and Hamburg, NY, gathered monthly to host LAN parties. With 12 to 18 PCs packed into a room, the original Unreal Tournament became the foundation of a community that was destined to grow.
The word spread, and by 2001, we created our online home: wnygamersclub.com. What began as a simple site for sharing event photos soon transformed. We added forums for discussion in 2003 and underwent a major overhaul in 2004 to accommodate our expanding membership.
A significant milestone came in 2005 with the launch of the LAN Party Extravaganza (LPE), our first large-scale event that brought together over 60 PC and console players. The club continued to thrive, with smaller LANs taking place in homes across Western New York, from Tonawanda to Hamburg.
More than two decades later, that same grassroots energy drives us. We've weathered countless WNY storms, but our passion remains constant. Join us and become part of the next chapter.
